News and Updates

To ensure you have the most recent updates including user guides, we recommended that you download and install the latest plug-ins now. All upgrades are free to licensed users.

  • November 2007: Macintosh Universal Plugins for Media Composer 2.7 / Xpress Pro 5.7

  • October 2007: Macintosh Plugins for Media Composer 2.5-2.6 / Xpress Pro 5.6 (Tiger)

  • January 2007: Windows version updated to accommodate changes in Avid licensing. ColorFiX has real-time mode.

  • April 2004: All Mac versions no longer use an installer. Users now unstuff and place the plug-ins into their AVX_Plug-in folders themselves.

  • Xpress Pro/DV v4.3 and Adrenaline v1.3 break support for SpeedRamP. You will get errors when trying to change the Order of keyframes. Download a newer CPR version of Avid Xpress DV here or Avid Xpress Pro here. Adrenaline users should contact Avid for a CPR or newer version.

  • December 2003: Special OS X installer for Xpress Pro, Adrenaline 1.1+, and Xpress DV 4.1+. SpeedRamPDV and ColorFiXDV licenses will work on Xpress Pro, but Mac users must download and install the new version of the plug-ins.

  • September 2003: Mac OS X versions of ColorFiX, DirtFiX, and FlickerFiX are released, and join SpeedRamP in a new OS X installer. Your previous Unlocking Codes for OS 8/9 remain valid, but you will have to re-enter them, so make note of them.

  • New versions of ColorFiX now require AVX 1.5. Users with older ColorFiX installations on AVX 1.5+ systems should upgrade by downloading and installing the latest version, in order to remain compatible with new users. (Windows Xpress DV users no longer need to download ColorFiXDV separately.)

ColorFiX is still available for ABVB systems, and those effects can still be brought forward to newer versions. However, ABVB systems are AVX 1.0 only and ColorFiX on those systems may not be able to open effects from new installations.

  • Rewritten DirtFiX User Guide.

  • July 2003: Our web store Kagi has begun charging VAT on sales to EU customers, in accordance with recent EU directives. If you are in the EU but exempt from VAT, you may provide Kagi an exemption number, or you can instead buy using our PayPal form.

  • June 2003: Rewritten ColorFiX User Guide and WaveScope Primer. WaveScope Vectorscope True Color has been removed.

  • February 2003: New SpeedRamP Tutorial with examples, test clip and bin, and rewritten SpeedRamP User Guide. Download the trial version to install them on your Avid system.

  • New example movies for SpeedRamP, DirtFiX, and FlickerFiX. New ColorFiX comparison with other AVX plug-ins.

  • Some Macintosh users of Elastic Gasket may experience crashing when trying to get the 3Prong Ordering Code. If so, please temporarily remove Elastic Gasket from your AVX_Plug-ins folder and re-launch before opening the licensing dialog box for 3Prong plug-ins.

  • July 2002: If you are trying to get the Unlocking Code for WaveScope and receive an error message asking you to get new Sentinel drivers, this is a bug. Do not bother replacing the drivers. Instead, send email to codes@3prong.com for help.

  • If you have purchased a ColorFiXDV license for Avid Xpress DV, please download www.3prong.com/ColorFiXDV.zip, and unzip and place the file "ColorFiX.avx" into your AVX_Plug-Ins folder, replacing the existing file of that name. After re-launching, enter your ColorFiXDV Unlocking Code.

  • June 2002: New Pricing - save up to 60% off our old prices!

  • WaveScope is released. CalcFX is discontinued.

  • Discounted licenses of SpeedRamPDV and ColorFiXDV are now available for Avid Xpress DV. ColorFiXDV is Windows only, and its effects are not backward-compatible with ColorFiX on AVX 1.0 systems such as ABVB Macintosh systems.

  • April 2002: Read the article about 3Prong products at www.editorsnet.com. (You may log in with the username "3Prong" and the password "guest".)

  • March 2002: Avid's Real-Time Effects Preview in Xpress DV 3.0 does not work with SpeedRamP or DirtFiX. To set up and render SpeedRamP or DirtFiX effects, click on the Real-Time Effects button in the upper right corner of the Timeline to turn it blue. You may turn on Real-Time Effects (green button) after these effects are rendered.

  • Xpress DV 3.0 will not allow SpeedRamP to format the Source TC Start value shown in the Effect Editor. This could cause an error message when SpeedRamP is first applied. Please download the latest version which does not attempt this formatting.

  • mid December 2001: SpeedRamP is released! Read the press release. Read the User Guide. Download the Download and try it for free.

  • It is now possible to purchase 3Prong product licenses which float between Avid systems by purchasing a 3Prong dongle. For example, freelance editors can take their dongle and move their plug-in license to another facility, unlocking the operation of the plug-in there. USB dongles which will work with Windows and newer Mac Avid systems are available for US $100. Products are licensed to floating 3Prong dongles at the regular price. Please ask for more information.

  • late August 2001: The Legalize section of the ColorFiX User Guide now has a built-in calculator to converts NTSC IRE and PAL mV for use in setting the Legalize controls.

  • mid June 2001: The User Guides have been generally improved, including Quick Start sections for DirtFiX and FlickerFiX. The DirtFiX User Guide has been simplified and a comparison with Avid Scratch Removal has been added.

  • Support for the new Xpress DV 2.0 USB dongle has been added.

  • The special ColorFiX version for Xpress DV is no longer needed. The fix for this Avid bug is now integrated into the normal Windows version.

  • We have determined that the plug-ins will not work with Avid DS 4.0. We will not be supporting this host.

  • May 2001: The early ColorFiX release on the NAB CD-ROM has been further optimized with a rendering speed improvement of 5-10%.

  • The early CalcFX release on the NAB CD-ROM cannot be licensed, due to a bug.
