The "TwitterFiX" AVX plug-in is a solution to the problem of interlace flicker.

Each video field is comprised of interlaced alternate lines of the video frame. Fine detail that is present on one field but not on the other may appear to flicker. Common sources with this problem might be: character generator rolls, computer-generated artwork, animation, some types of telecine transfers, etc.

TwitterFiX works by blending each field together with the previous one.

TwitterFiX is only sold bundled with 3Prong's FlickerFiX. Purchase a license for FlickerFiX and unlock, and TwitterFiX is also unlocked.

Applying TwitterFiX

Simply drag and drop the TwitterFiX icon from the Effect Palette onto the segment. Each frame will have to be rendered.

The Blend slider controls the percentage of blend. The default is 50%, meaning that each field is an even mix of itself and the previous one. Lower settings produce less blending, and will be less effective.

Limitations:

TwitterFiX is designed to Avid’s AVX 1.0 specification in order to be useful on the majority of Avid systems. Due to limitations in AVX 1.0, TwitterFiX cannot access fields ahead in time, nor can it access the previous field unless it is cached during the normal rendering sequence. This presents the following minor limitations:

• The first field of a rendered segment is not fixed, as it cannot be blended with any other. This should not be detectable, as the twitter will not be objectionable unless sustained. If necessary, you may mix down a longer segment after TwitterFiX has been applied, and trim off the first frame.

• You will not see the effect of TwitterFiX when parked before rendering. TwitterFiX will not render on the fly unless you are stepping through the fields in a forward direction. Render to see the results.

• TwitterFiX will not work in single field Avid resolutions.
