ColorFiX

Compared with Avid Color Correction

ColorFiX is not a complete replacement for the Avid Color Correction that is provided on newer Avid systems such as Xpress DV 3.5. However, it does provide much of the same control.

In addition, ColorFiX has the following features beyond Avid's Color Correction:

Compared with other AVX color correction plug-ins

Grid or X pattern is due to that plug-in operating in trial mode, and is not a defect.
Waveform and vectorscope images are from 3Prong's optional WaveScope plug-in.

Precise Selective Color Replacement
Can you choose multiple colors? Can you adjust primary correction at the same time? Even with stacking or nesting any number of other plug-ins, when one plug-in passes its result to another it is impossible to recreate some ColorFiX effects. For example, you can't remove all color except for certain blues, and also alter the hue of those blues, as shown below.

Digital Film Tools CS Selective Color Correct
-User chooses single plug-in with restricted features
-No color picker available, preset only
-No background adjustment possible
-Note lack of precision in hue selection, poor selection at hue bounds of range

Boris BCC Correct Selected Color
-User chooses single plug-in with restricted features
-Only one color picker available
-No background adjustment possible
-Note poor hue shading in replaced color, poor blend with adjacent colorspace

3Prong ColorFiX
-All features in a single plug-in
-Four Select Old color pickers available (two used here)
-Note smooth hue shading in replaced colors
-Complete background adjustment possible at the same time; for example, desaturation
